What we do:
Real Estate Accounting provides fund accounting services to private equity and real estate funds.
The successful candidate will be:
Responsible for cash and asset reconciliations related to more intricate accounts or transactions with assigned funds. Performs reconciliation of account expenses for more complex transactions and ensures that they are allocated appropriately. Escalates atypical transactions to senior team members.
Engages with clients and resolves any escalated issues related to fund calculations and accounting. Responsible to ensure NAV processes are complete and accurate disclosures made in the financial statements.
Drafts financial reports for clients regarding the fund performance.
Engage with auditors and clients to ensure that the annual audit process is completed efficiently and effectively.
Experience & Qualifications:
Essential:
- 3-5 years work experience in the funds industry
- Excellent working knowledge of NAV calculations and reviews
- In-depth experience of resolving cash & asset reconciliation queries
- Knowledge of accounting requirements for a wide range of financial instruments
- In-depth knowledge of fund fees
- Excellent knowledge of Excel
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proactive, focused attitude towards work and an ability to consistently meet deadlines
- Organisational, inter-personal and communication skills
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with Geneva, Yardi, or Investran accounting platforms

Description of the position
The position of trainee auditor involves:
– Working as part of audit teams which carry out the audits of annual financial statements of public bodies such as government departments/offices and State-sponsored, health and educational bodies
– Reviewing the internal control systems in place in these audited bodies
– Participating in project audits of significant programmes or areas of expenditure
– Participating in performance measurement reviews in the Office’s Reporting Directorate
– Participating in inspections of other publicly funded organisations.
It is a requirement that the person appointed will have the capacity to carry out any functions or combination of functions attaching to any trainee auditor role.
The Office currently has a pilot hybrid working model in place which will facilitate remote working 2 to 3 days a week.
Essential entry requirements
Candidates must on or before 21st July 2022
- Bea qualified accountant with full membership of a prescribed accountancy body supervised by the Irish Auditing and Supervisory Auditing Authority (IAASA) (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, CPA, ICAI, AAIA) OR
- Holda primary honours degree at minimum 2.1 (at least Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications) in any discipline, OR
- Havesat and passed at least the first level of recognised professional accountancy examinations in an accountancy body regulated by the Irish Auditing and Accounting Supervisory Authority (IAASA), OR
- HaveAccounting Technicians Ireland membership, OR
- Anticipate that they will be entitled to hold, by 21 July at the latest, a primary honours degreeat minimum 2.1 (at Level 8 or above on the National Framework of Qualifications) acceptable as equivalent for the purpose of this competition,

The Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference (also known as the Irish Episcopal Conference) is the assembly of the Bishops of Ireland exercising together certain pastoral offices for Christ’s faithful on the whole Island of Ireland. The Finance Office deal with all aspects of Episcopal Conference finance, including interactions with the twenty-six diocesan offices, external funders and regulatory bodies.
Scope of Position
