During this time, and continuing into his current role, Andrew established the active involvement of industry in all of his programmes development and delivery, and he collaborates closely with Fintech Ireland, Fintech Scotland, and the RegTech Alliance and other industry/professional bodies. Prior to his move into education, Andrew had a broad experience of the financial services industry, including working for banks, hedge funds, an investment consultancy, and co-founding two Fintech related start-ups.
Andrew is the former Course Director of Accountancy (including ACCA), Finance, Fintech, and Business Analytics programmes at Dublin Business School. During his 8 years at DBS, as Course Director, Andrew lectured extensively and was responsible for the management of numerous programmes. Amongst a very broad range of lecturing experience Andrew has lectured ACCA’s AFM paper for 5 years and had a student place 1st in Ireland (20th in the world) in the December 2019 sitting.
In his time at DBS Andrew designed, developed, and validated (QQI) several new programmes, including an MSc & Higher Diploma in Financial Technology (Fintech), a Certificate in Regulatory Technology (Level 8), an MSc in Business Analytics, an MSc in Financial Analytics, and a Higher Diploma in Aviation Finance. Since joining PAT Andrew has designed two new programmes – Fintech Risk & Compliance and AML in a Fintech Environment – with the ACOI (The Association of Compliance Officers in Ireland) and the ACCA respectively.
With over 30 years spent in the International Financial Services industry and a decade as a trainer / lecturer Larry offers a knowledgeable, experienced and enthusiastic approach to education and further development at all levels, primarily within the financial services arena.
Prior to working in the learning and development industry Larry undertook a number of senior executive roles as Treasurer, Director of Financial Markets and Head of Financial Institutions for the Irish entities of three European Financial Institutions. He commenced his career in one of the domestic banks in retail branch banking before moving into their Group Treasury in the London and Dublin dealing rooms.
Larry has been a non-executive Director within the funds, securities servicing and not for profit arenas. In 2015/16, he was one of the specialist financial investigators on the Joint Committee of Inquiry into the Banking Crisis at the Houses of the Oireachtas.
Since 2014, Larry has designed training courses in financial markets, funds, fintech, risk, strategy, conduct & culture and executive management. In the process, he has delivered and facilitated programmes in most of the major financial centres globally. In 2020, he was financial lead on a team which developed and delivered a virtual graduate program and an award-winning intern programme, voted no.1 in the USA, for one of the major global investment banks.
